Consultation at Bolton Wanderers Free School
Eddie Davies Education Trust
The Eddie Davies Education Trust (EDET) is a not for profit trust established to include the newly formed Bolton Wanderers Free School. The Free School is co-educational with formal qualification and some sports-led programmes aimed at 16-19 year old learners from Bolton and surrounding towns. Bolton Wanderers FC has been working with young people for several years delivering alternative education provision based on BTEC and IBCC through sport. The successful application to open the Free School was based around the significant experience, expertise and inspirational vision we have acquired with local schools and colleges in order to expand and develop our existing programmes into a full time 16-19 provision for up to 400 students per year.
Our aims for the Bolton Wanderers Free School are to:
- Create a centre of excellence which enables Bolton Wanderers Free School graduates to develop and progress in life with a holistic outcome. We want BWFS graduates to develop both academically and psychologically to advance in to further education, training or employment; and to address with greater dexterity all the wider challenges of adult life
- Improve achievement and progression so that all students aspire and endeavour to achieve their full potential above and beyond where possible
- Empower students to set and maintain demanding personal and professional standards supported by the BWFS ethos, staff and infrastructure
- Ensure students feel valued, happy, safe and supported; and all barriers to their learning and progress are addressed and removed
